We saw him on the shelter’s website, an adorable but sad old dachsund whose owners had left him there to die.  We went straight to the shelter, wrapped him in a soft blanket and brought him home.  We called him Seymour.  Sure he was old, but so sweet and loving.  Seymour asked for so little and gave so much.  We learned that Seymour was seriously ill and a few months later we had to let him go.  But even though it was for a short time, Seymour knew true love and he didn’t die alone in a shelter.  THE SEYMOUR FUND was created in his honor, to care for senior dogs who need a place to call home.  Some of these dogs were beloved pets whose owners have passed away or can no longer care for them.  Others have lived their whole lives without being shown real love.  A donation to the Seymour Fund is used to rescue older dogs from the shelters and to provide the medical care they often require.  When making a donation to ThumpingTails Animal Rescue please specify if you would like your contribution to be applied to The Seymour Fund.  And if you can open your home to an older dog who asked only for a warm bed, good food and some love, contact us at ThumpingTails@aol.com.
