Sweetie Pie

1-2 year old pit bull

Sweetie Pie is true to her name, and is a purebred highly desired blue pit bull with an amazing temperament.  Because of her breed, extraordinary color and temperament, we are certain that she was used for breeding and then separated from her pups who were likely sold and then she was discarded.  She was found looking for food, emaciated and obviously just having given birth, but was saved by one of our adopters.  They took her to the shelter so an owner could find her, but no one came.  When she was about to be euthanized, our friends stepped up and saved her from being killed.

As you can see, she's not too skinny anymore (!) but now Sweetie is on the spa plan to slim down, she does great on long walks and hikes.

Look at the pictures of her reveling in the freedom of rolling in the grassy sunshine! We nicknamed her Piglet because when she is happy she snorts like a pig!  Sweetie has been fostered with these people but they are moving in a matter of weeks and we are desperate to find a foster or adoptive home for her.
She happily lives outside on a covered patio with her own cozy dog igloo and blankets which she loves, and access to the yard. She's very good and responsive on leash. She seemed to feel a little intimidated by my very big dogs but was super gentle with my little poodle and she is great with cats too. What's heartbreaking is that whenever Sweetie gets a bone or toy, she hides it immediately, as if she is protecting them so no one takes them like they took her babies.
NOTE: This is a courtesy listing for a private adoption. No one associated with ThumpingTails Animal Rescue makes any claims of knowledge of this dog's history or personality.
